To IG or not, that is the question

I wondered about having an Instagram account. I'm so glad I signed up. The reason? You can share the pictures you take with family and friends. You can also share with a group of your selected friends privately, if you prefer. They would need to have an account as well so that you can view their pictures and they can view yours.

The Instagram app does need to be on your phone. It's free of charge through the App Store.
Once it's downloaded, open it and you sign up by going through a set up process to get your Instagram (IG) account up and active. First, type in an email that you would like to use, or you can use your Facebook sign in.

The next screen will ask you to create a username and password.

When you're doing this, be thinking about and have a picture that you would like to use. Then you can add it to your profile. The app then asks for your name and phone number. This is optional. If you want, I'm pretty sure you can skip this.

The next prompt will let you know if your friends have an account and it gives the option of connecting with FB contacts and your email contacts. You can click follow or you may choose to only share with a select few.

The next screen will show you celebrities and certain people to follow, if you so choose. As you browse, if you find someone you wants to follow, just click the follow button which is on the right side of the screen. When you're finished, just press done.

The screen will now take you to your "newsfeed of pictures" showing posts from the people you followed, if any.

Now you are all set so you and your friends can all share your pictures together. Invite them if you'd like. Otherwise, you can keep your account private, as I mentioned earlier. That can be arranged in the settings option. That is the button in the right hand lower corner of the screen. It looks like the shape of a head and shoulders. Then the screen changes and look for a gear button in the top right on the screen. Click on the gear button.  You will see there are several options available.

Scroll down and click "private account" button on the right to keep your account and photos private.

I hope you found this information helpful. Please feel free to share it with your friends! Have a fantastic day!

Biggest hugs,

Tracey
